Think the pandemic will be a thing of the past by next summer? Think there'll be a vaccine or treatment by then?

COVID-19 is here to stay, but fast-spreading mass infection is unlikely.  It is very unlikely that there will be a safe, effective, and wildly available vaccine in 9 months. It is more likely to take at least another year for that to happen.  It will happen, but it may not be by next summer.  Each week and month, doctors are figuring out better treatment protocols.  That isn't the same as guaranteeing that no one will die or get gravely ill.  It just means that the protocols will be more effective for the vast majority of patients and that the knowledge and treatment will continue to improve.

We hope so but there is no guarantee.

Flare ups here and there, certainly issues still going on in parts of the world. Immunity is looking better and better which means a vaccine has a higher chance of being found. That is, until the next virus comes sweeping on through.
