He and a friend passed counterfeit money to a shop-owner, who called the police.  The shop-owner identified him because he had only just left the store - pointed him out.  Apparently, this Floyd guy would not be arrested.  He resisted and fought, and he was about two heads taller than the officers, and most people and was about twice as bulky - huge guy.  When they finally got the cuffs on him, he did walk across the street with them but then when they got to the police car, he refused to get in and again, fought them, resisting arrest.  He sat down on the ground, fighting to not get into the car.  The officers.  He was not easily controlled.  It was questionable whether the officer should have kept his knee on him for eight full minutes, which is what was alleged.  Apparently, the D.A. felt that 8 minutes was excessive.
