    Let the rent your roommate pays is "n". Then your rent is $50 more so it will be "n + 50".

    Total rent = 1327.47

    (Rent paid by your roommate) + (Rent Paid by you) = (Total Rent)

    So

    n + n + 50 = 1327.47

    2n + 50 = 1327.47

    2n = 1327.47 - 50

    2n = 1277.47

    n = 1277.47/2

    n = $ 638.735 (Rent paid by your roommate)

    n + 50 = 638.735 + 50 = $ 688. 735 (Rent paid by you)

    2x + 50= 1327.47

    x= 638.735

    You pay $688.73 and your roommate pays $638.74.
