how did east asia go for having the most coronavirus cases and deaths in the world, to now having much less than many western nations?

that doesn't explain why confirmed cases in east asia have not risen at the same rate many western nations have

    Much of East Asia shut down immediately in order to contain the virus in their regions and maintained strict restrictions, which most of the population honored.

    The clamped down hard with social distancing and stopping gatherings of people. "Stay at home" is the catchword in all countries that are containing the virus. Countries where infections are out of control did too little, too late.

    95% of people recover from it..so those that caught it in the early stages are now well again..
