Mini dv tape converting?

So my camcorder has a s-video port and dv port I was thinking if I buy a vhs converter could I connect my camera to my pc by using a s-video cable and connecting the yellow red and white wire to the converter would that allow me to transfer my tapes to my pc?

First off, S-Video is video only - there's no audio.  The coloured wires you mentioned are for video and the L & R audio channels, but you don't mention your camcorder having any phono sockets to connect them to.  The best way to transfer the video is via firewire - assuming your PC has a spare slot it's easy and cheap to install a firewire card.  You can end up having fun and games getting the drivers to run in legacy mode under Win 10, but that's a story for another day!
