I don’t know if it counts as a novel because it’s really a children's book, but the Indoor Pirates by Jeremy Strong is the funniest book I’ve read.

The only book that made me chuckle recently was: 'Monsters' by Emerald Fennell.

I have a dark sense of humor and that tickled me. For example: the protagonist has an imaginary friend with a face on the back of his head and she tells her friend he is in her hallway and the friend screams and cries. That tickled me. See what I mean? Dark sense of humor.

The book is filled with black comedy like that. Not for everyone, admittedly, but certainly a good read.

Three Men in a Boat - Jerome K Jerome.

Oh, and Asterix in Britain, in the original French. "Bonne chance et tout cette sorte de chose..." Mind you, I was about fourteen at the time.
