Unemployment Qualification date?

Is my unemployment qualification date the day that I was let go from my job or is it the day I applied for unemployment?

Update:

I was let go about 2 months ago, but wasn't able to file because long call ques and website crashing, so I didn't get through to apply until a few days ago, so will I get retroactive pay for those two months of not working even though I applied last week?

Qualification is not a day or date that is set.  It is a condition.  When you were laid off, you likely qualify to receive it.  Apply the following day, because you will be paid on your last day of work.  You can also apply later if you have something better to do on the day following your layoff.
