Is it false that anxiety is caused by chemical imbalance!?
It’s caused by your upbringing, aka your environment. It’s also caused by unresolved trauma.

No it is not false. External factors are translated by your neural path ways and that influences the balance of the chemical substances "swimming" in your brain and in turn, that influences your emotions and the way you feel.
A trauma might leave a mark on your neural pathways, some sort of "blue print" through which the trauma is translated into emotional turmoil. The amount of serotonin and other similar chemicals that balance your emotions depends on the neural pathways, that blue print might block the path and make it hard for your brain to produce serotonin. Or another factor may simply reduce the amounts, either way, that is depression and that is anxiety.
The external factors are important but that doesn't mean the internal ones are meaningless. The chemical stuff happen in correspondence with the external factors. Either during, before and/or after the fact.

Why can't you hide your mental illness as well as your parents did?
