If Democrats believe in separation of church and state, why are they forcing churches to shut down during the coronavirus?

Isn't that the state controlling churches? Isn't that a violation of separation of church and state?

It helps if you understand what separation of church and state MEANS, which you clearly don't.

The 1st Amendment is very clear.  There shall be freedom of religion, and "Congress shall make no law regarding an establishment of religion"  Having an established religion simply means that there is an official religion which could have special privileges.  As England does, having the Church of England with the Queen as Supreme Governor of it (though it has complete freedom of religion as well).

That is ALL it means. If the government bans gatherings of more than X number of people for health reasons, that doesn't just affect church services, it affects everything where people get together.  Such as all spectator sports and concerts.  It is not a law aimed at religion.  So what is your problem?

Why do you want to make church members less protected than sports fans?

And what's it got to do with Democrats?  Republicans are doing it too, apart from your loony president.

In individualism, everyone is responsible for their own health and can decide for themselves what health risks are worth taking.

In socialism, the government is responsible for your health and decides what health risks you are allowed to take for you.

Those who protest the lockdowns are the beginning of the rise of individuals.

Places of worship, for any religion, are not an essential business. The virus spreads easier in mass gatherings. You can worship from home. If you think churches should be open, then you admit that they're an essential business and should pay taxes.

When you consider belief in some invisible being a form of mental illness you wouldn't trust such people to properly socially distance. That's the basis of all this.

Ohhh, I get it... You're one of those brainwashed imbeciles who think Trump is actually a Christian, eh? And it wasn't a "Dems" decision.. Restrictions on large gatherings, ie; church services, was in the CDC guidelines approved by TRUMP, genius.

Because they also believe in life. If churches don't shut down, there will be more deaths. Republicans claim to be pro-life, but it's Democrats that act like it.
