    He did not. Lincoln was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth. Ray killed Martin Luther King, a little over 100 years later.

    It was a terrible mistake. Ray was actually aiming for his friend and vice-president, Mark David Chapman but, noticing what he was doing, Lincoln's wife "accidentally" nudged Chapman's arm and made him shoot the wrong man. Probably some kind of insurance thing. Hope this helped.
