The original Xbox uses the older IDE (PATA) standard. This has been pretty much obsolete for over a decade so you may need to look online for an IDE hard drive or DVD drive. Just keep in mind that the original Xbox was not meant to have its hard drive upgraded. It uses an encryption key which is stored both in the HDD and the EEPROM of the Xbox. Even if you copy the necessary files/format on a compatible HDD, a stock Xbox will not read a different hard drive. You will need to extract the key from the EEPROM and use a special program to "lock" the new hard drive so that the Xbox can read it.
