Would you say law is a good career? Like becoming a lawyer?

I find it hard to understand how a defence lawyer can fight the corner of a serial killer.

It's a job.  Not every part of the job is equally enjoyable, but with the right training, you give everyone a valid shot at having a "fair trial" before society throws them away.

It is incredibly difficult. It takes a commitment for your whole life. Law schools aren't cheap and the ones that are won't get you the best jobs. If all of that is OK with you then go for it.

There is the potential for enormous income, doing intellect ually satisfying work, and doing work that is important to society.  However, not every lawyer succeeds in doing all or any of those things.

Many lawyers (graduates of law schools) never actually get a license or practice law. There are numerous alternative career paths, and several books about those. If you're serious, I recommend you speak to people who have done it -- before you commit yourself one way or the other.
