Sometimes.  Get the make and model of the dvd player and then google "remote control for Sony 1215 player".  If that doesn't work, try ebay and amazon.

Look up the model for your device and look on Ebay, Amazon, etc. otherwise they have

what's known as a " universal remote " at Walmart and other places if you're in a hurry.

Download a remote control app for your phone. They usually have a way to program it to be used on almost any device you own.

It might be no more costly to just buy a new player and upgrade to BluRay.

There are lots of original remotes for thousands of devices listed on eBay.

Try to look up the part number for the one you need

before you "shop" for a replacement

so that you can be sure it is the right one.

Some brands don't assign a part number.

In such instances, the model number of the device is all you can use.

I don't like that, but there is nothing that can be done about it.

Don't buy the first one you see unless it is Definitely a good deal,

    which is quite rare.

I have bought at least four correct remotes for things I own that way.

In each case, the first one I saw was more beat up

and priced quite a bit higher than the one I eventually bought.

All of the used remotes I have bought have worked perfectly.
