 A Jet flies due north at 125 m/s. A crosswind blows due east at 30 m/s.?

Determine the angle at which the jet ends up going and its final velocity.

    Tan angle = 30/125

     

    final velocity = 128.5 m/s

    Since the vectors are at right angles, we have a right triangle.

    Vf² = 125²+30² = 129²tanΘ = 30/125 = 0.24arctan(0.24) = 13.5° east of north = 76.5° north of east at about 129m/s
