Why are Southern Europeans lazy ? ?
The Spanish have something called the siesta where they lounge around for hours. They don’t like to work. The Italians demand their government give more free time and less work.
I lived in the UK, the Brits and other Northern Europeans are more hard working than them. They have a better work ethic.

Perhaps it's their culture, perhaps it's genetic, maybe it's their Arab/African heritage... but whatever the case is, there ain't a thing that can be done about it.

If work were divided fairly, we'd all do 20-25 hours a week.
Siestas make perfect sense when afternoons have temperatures of 30 or 40 degrees celsius

The siesta is popular in Spain because they work long hours and often have several jobs. People need some time to rest, particularly when it's hot.
Working non-stop from 9 to 6 isn't good work ethic. It's maintaining the illusion of hard work so the boss who exploits your work feels like you're a good product.
But in reality, you're less efficient when you're tired or stressed. Having the possibility to rest and take some time for yourself greatly increases your productivity.

I also lived in the UK for a while, obviously a lot more recent than you have as the work ethic you praise has long since vanished, the fat lazy blobs that claim benefits from the state take lazy to a whole new level.

Sounds like a cultural thing than a general thing. And btw, having siestas and demanding that the government give you more free time and less work doesn't make you lazy
