How do companies usually fire employees? Do they just send an email?

I feel fairly confident that my company is going to fire me soon. If they don'tthen I would find it pretty strang. I was wondering how the firing process usually works. I've never been fired from a job before.

they might talk to you in person

  • Varies but if it's a small company, then it's most likely in person. Either way, they're probably going to send an email containing all the information about the severance package

They will usually do it in person.  Depends on the job you do.  If it's an office job and ask you to clean out your desk, go home and that you no longer have a job here.  Something like a retail job, you might be told at the end of your shift you no longer have a job.  You'll get some paperwork handed to you.  You don't need to sign anything, regardless what they say.
