Why do people 'love' and hook up differently today then in the past?
I mean, there's no one sneaking out of home to meet their secret boyfriend who works and to walk with him in the countryside holding his hand, then start kissing in a field, the sun shines, there's a light breeze, he can't help but cover her neck with kisses and then he opens up her shirt, she's shy but she lets him until they realize it's too risky so they stop. He walks her home and promises her that he'll come back from sailing to marry her and that she will start a new life with him forgetting all the bad things of her past.

We live in a society where if you stop working, you are ******.

That sounds like cheap romantic fiction

In the developed world very few us live in places where we can easily walk through the countryside.

Different times. Different technologies. People don't have the freedom to walk around and frolic in the fields. As there would be fear of getting shot by the neighbors or the owners of the fields.
People don't often walk to work anymore, as the jobs are much further away. 20 minute drive one way. To walk that might take you hours.
Also women have to work now. So they aren't at home waiting for their man to come home anymore. They too have to bring half the bacon home.
Also people are texting and using social media for contact and not talking as much anymore.

Because hooking up these days is only a text message away. It’s easier to make time for others now than it was back in the day when you literally had to plan your night out by a phone call
