Can anyone identify Third Reich Jewelry?

It’s a photo locket that’s been in the family for a long time great grandparents long. Inside inscription is “SKM & CO” with a shield around it.

S.K. Merrill & Co. was a jewelry manufacturer in Rhode Island during the late 1800s and into the 20th century. (1871-1930?)  They specialized in lockets. The swastika was originally viewed (and still is) as a spiritualistic symbol in many cultures since ancient times.  Spiritualism was huge in the US around the turn of the century, and this locket probably had nothing to do with Nazi Germany.

The swastika predated the Third Reich so its difficult to be sure.
