Olajuwon wasn't considered as the GOAT, why?

He doesn't fit the Nike-media narrative. Jordan was the best player in the game for maybe 5 seasons, but you'd think he dominated the league for 2 decades. It took Magic & Bird's health decline and the Pistons getting old before Jordan could win, then the 1 1/2 seasons he was gone people act like the Bulls were terrible and that was the only reason the Rockets won. It's revisionist garbage.

Most people agreed Jordan was the GOAT before he left for baseball.

When he came back he took it to a whole other level. The Bulls won another 3 while breaking the NBA record for wins. But the part most people overlook is that Jordan completely changed his offensive game. Before baseball his game was break people down off the dribble and create his own shot. After baseball he had more of a post up/ mid-range game.

That was what solidified Jordan as the GOAT because it showed that no matter what the circumstances he was going to adapt and continue to dominate.

Nothing against Olajuwon. I'll keep telling people he was underrated for the rest of my life. But, come on. This is Jordan we're talking about.

MJ showed that when he was at chicago that no one could achieve what he did. 6-0 in finals and had a threepeat without pippen. Its insane and the only reason hakeem wasnt considered the best centre ever is beacuse he played in jordans era. If LBJ played during MJs time he wouldnt be as good as he is because MJ wouldnt have allowed him to elevate as high as he has. Hakeem also isnt as good as Shaq or Kareem so if he cant dominate his own position he cannot be considered the GOAT.

Olajuwon isn't a top five CENTER of all time, let alone the best PLAYER of all time.

Jordan was the best for more like 10 years not 5, and whil Olajuwon was great, he is at best the  3rd or 4th best center of all time,so he can't be the GOAT.

Olajuwon is in my top-5.  He's the league's greatest defender ever, he had no weaknesses in his game, and have yet to see a player match his footwork.   But, could he match the success Lebron James had in Cleveland and Miami, or be an MVP candidate in his 17th season?  What about the ridiculous numbers Wilt put up?  What about Kareem?  A lot of people pick Jordan because he was beyond elite on both ends and had that killer mindset; Jordan would impose his will and crush spirits whenever he wanted to.  Jordan was still embarrassing players even when he was on the Wizards.
