Yes! It's very good.
By the way it's called "The Picture", not "A Picture".

It is a very good book and, as Victorian fiction goes, quite easy to read. I read it several years ago.

Not a bad book, I had listened to it when SFF Audio Podcast had reposted a LibriVox dot org reading of it. You could read or listen to the a couple of chapters and see it you like it.

Its a classic horror story. Your library may also provide e-books for you to read online.

By the time you'd posted the question and waited for half a dozen answers you could have been half way through the book already.
Why not give it a try anyway? Don't expect action but it is creepy ...

Yes it is, as are the half dozen or so movies they made from it.

I enjoyed the story but do keep in mind it is more a story about character than fast paced action. In some ways Dorian Grey" can be seen as a morality tale. That being said Wilde has excellent insights into human nature.

Read the book years ago because I'm interested in genre fiction and thought I should be familiar with some of the classics.
I must say that I expected more, plotwise. However, the book is definitely worth reading because it's full with witty, quotable lines! Oscar Wilde was simply brilliant!
PS: You're talking about "The Picture of Dorian Gray", not "A Portrait of Dorian Grey", right?

Go ahead and read it.
But you might find it a good example of telling and not showing as is the case in many stories of that time.
Which may prove useful if you're ever asked to provide an example of such.
Many sympatheties to your boredom.

You should be bored. Stories now are best told by the movies.
