You purchase a house and then make monthly mortgage payments.........or, just pay cash for the house.

Dream up a pandemic and call it something like Covid-19 for instance. It could eliminate rents & mortgages for the forseeable future here in the US. I know this is far fetched but so is your question.

    In your dreams, maybe.

To have your own house, you'd need to buy one; in which case you wouldn't be paying rent on it (although other bills & taxes would be due)

Normally you'd be evicted, but there's a halt right now in evictions. But you'll still owe it, and if you don't catch up when this is over, you'll be evicted.

You don't.   You will eventually have to pay all the rent you owe because you don't get to live in someone else's property for free.

    You BUY a house.

You pay the mortgage until the house is paid for and then you never pay "rent" again.

You can own a house in as little as ten years depending on the cost of the house and how much you can put toward the down payment and monthly payments.
