Why are deaths climbing so fast in America from the coronavirus?
A week ago it was a thousand, 2 days ago it was 2,400. Now it's 3,100
Now it's 200,000 cases, and 4,700 deaths.

America has lots of old people, lots of over weight people, lots of people with diabetes. All of whom are at very hight risk of death from COVID-19.

America is the only country handicapped w/ a trump factor. It's now the epicenter despite having several days warning.
This president didn't create the virus. He ignored it, denied it, minimized it, joked about it, weaponized it, politicized it and exacerbated it. He is culpable for the chaos, unnecessary illness and yes, even preventable deaths because of it -AND- his supporters are too. This is the human cost of the MAGA cult delusion and we're all paying for it now equally.
As we speak, the US is STILL far too short of test kits. We need rubber gloves, masks, hand sanitizer etc. outside every store. All this preventive measures should be free and provided by the federal gov. But, what we get is an extension of hardhearted/selfish right wing politics that fiercely opposes socialized health care.
No informed American would be surprised by the domestic severity of the pandemic. 2 yrs. ago trump fired the pandemic response team. He thinks he knows more than the people most qualified f/ education and experience. Even as we speak he keeps praising himself for the job he has done despite the backdrop of makeshift morgues. He lives in an alternate reality and his super-ego narcissism has gotten disgustingly old.
Min- I hope America pulls out w/ less damage than it looks to be but if a result is voting trump out, that's some redemption. A 2nd term is a chance for a 2nd flush that finishes America off. It's life and/or death now.

It is destined to cause death--but no one could have predicted how many deaths this virus would cause until it DID. In other words, we're COUNTING them now--as the virus spreads. They aren't really climbing any faster than in other places, they're simply being counted better. In places where social distancing and preventative measures are better, the deaths are fewer--but in the US we have a media network that has alternatively downplayed and hyped this pandemic--and no one knows what is true anymore. So people do what they THINK is the right thing, which may or may not be. In places where the truth has been more prevalent, the death rates are lower.
That ought to tell you something about what to believe and what not to believe. But it may not because we're used to being TOLD what to believe instead of using our minds to think more clearly.

If people don't follow the health protocols seriously, the virus spreads at about 33% more cases every single day. In other words, if people are stupid. Nearly the whole country will have it soon. Seriously! It's already almost come and gone where I live now. however I notice some places around us are not doing nearly as well because people are not staying six feet away from people in public and washing their hands enough. The virus is still spreading. If you follow the health guidelines from health officials, it stops the spread. If people don't take it seriously enough, it won't stop. It gets to the point where your local authorities have to start fining people for not following the orders of the health officials. Also some forced isolations in some cases.

There are several possible reasons for the rates. The first reason has to do with the testing. In many areas of the country by the time suspected cases are tested the person is in fairly severe respiratory distress.
Then there can be a misdiagnosis of the first symptoms and again the patient may be in pretty bad shape by the time they are admitted to the hospital.
Some people are more susceptible to the virus than others.
Some people ignore the symptoms and don't seek medical help until it is too late.
The list could go on and on.

It'll be 5,000 or more in another two days. Once people become ill, it takes awhile for their condition to progress to seriously and then deathly ill. We are just at the beginning of the death phase and it's going to go on for months. Doctors and scientists have been warning us about this since mid-January, but people didn't believe them. They went on cruises, frolicked on the beach for spring vacation, went to huge church services and did not practice social distancing until politicians ordered them to do it. Our president was in denial for weeks as he assured us that this would go away soon. If we had locked down a month earlier, some of these deaths (and the ones to come) could have been prevented. Our doctors and nurses are doing the best they can under extremely difficult conditions. The American people need to get smart and STAY HOME.

Not just in the USA.

It's an exponential curve. The number of infected doubles every few days. And this will go on until the peak of the curve, when the number of infected will be in the hundreds of thousands or even over a million. We are expecting that in two to three weeks! Sit tight, it's gonna be quite a ride.
