If my wife is a homemaker and we file joint taxes will we get $2400 from the new stimulus bill or just $1200?

If your income level qualifies, then you would get $2,400. The stimulus amount reduces as income goes higher. If you earned more than $150,000 - the your stimulus amount will be reduced.
You filed a JOINT return - so you qualify as TWO people - they are not looking at WHO had the income.

It should be $2,400 because it goes by how many people in the home.

Whether she had income or not is not relevant, TOTAL income is what matters for a joint return.

$2400, if you qualify - did you file your 2019 taxes?

Do you really think that the federal government is going to tell a woman that because she is a housewife, she does not count good enough? I have no idea of the details of the law that they passed, but I can tell you the answer to your question.

Sort of depends on what your actual earnings and such were, not everyone is getting a check.
