Can you explain the Trinity to me?

If Jesus is God's son. And God is one. And Jesus is god, does it mean Jesus is his own father?

Of course nobody can explain the trinity to you or to anyone else. Just like you can't explain red to a person who was born blind, and you can't explain the sound of the ocean to a person who was born deaf. The reason, of course, is that learning is done by comparison. If you want to learn a new language, you constantly have to compare the sounds you know to the sounds of the other language and adjust, and so on. There are concepts that are too foreign to be learned, like the trinity. Biblically, you are also a trinity, being comprised of a body, soul and spirit that are all you, but have different functions and needs that serve the whole being. That's as close as I can get you to an understanding based on anything we do understand.

As far as Yeshua being his own Father, I can tell you that God had no son until he was placed into Miryams womb. You don't have a child until a conception has happened. Before that He existed as part of the whole of God and was returned there after His ascended.

I realize that you're only asking for the sake of having something to be intolerant of and argue about, but if someone is reading who DOES want to know, then these thoughts are here.

The first thing to understand, and this is simple: The Trinity is a lie.   It is nothing but an excuse to protect the lie that Christianity claims god, Jesus and the other imaginary fictional entity they call the holy spirit or ghost. To the intelligent non-believer of superstition, it is just another lie used in the attempt to cover the claim that god came to earth, impregnated a girl without telling her and then Jesus was born who is the same god in the flesh.  That dam sure says that god fathered himself.  That holy spirit is just a side kick to use when any other lie comes up about that trinity. In reality it is all bullsheit.

"[Mark 9:48] Where *their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched."
That said, God's grace is still available. Cheers

Let me explain it from three different angles...

First, the definition of the indwelling Spirit: Jesus is the Powerful Presence of God, enriching and empowering human lives through the Holy Spirit.  <We see how it comes together in [John 14:16-23]>

Second, a 'unitarian' view of God will rob Him of His omnipresence and therefore His omnipotence.

Third,  God is 'LOVE' [1 John 4:8] fundamentally and essentially,  and we know that  'Love'  by any definition cannot exist alone. There has to be at least more than one person (of the same essence) for love to exist.

So, God exists in plurality of persons, so LOVE could exist. Of course, that makes sense and that is also how God makes Himself known to us in the Bible. [Matthew 3:16];  [Matthew 28:19];  [Romans 5:5-8].

This, according to me, is a very appropriate response because not only did I provide references, I also explained  why it cannot be otherwise.

It's a bit like an egg. They're all components of the one. So one is God the father, one is God the son and one is God the holy spirit, they're known as the trinity. Just like in an egg you have, the yolk, the white and the shell. Altogether they make an egg. And the trinity makes God. It's an EGG yolk, EGG white and EGG shell. Without just one of those components and there'd be no egg. 3 persons in one God

Source(s): Was taught this at Sunday school as a bairn

An egg, an apple, a three leaf clover, none of these explain the trinity. The shell of the egg is not the egg. The core of the apple is not the apple. A leaf of the clover is not the clover.

    Sure: 1 + 1 +1 = 1.

    I think that's obvious.

Antonius, God did not impregnate anyone. She remained a virgin until she gave birth to Jesus. And Mary was told what was going to happen beforehand, and she gave her consent.  Matthew chapters 1 and 2, Luke chapter 1. Please read the scriptures that report this.

Few people really understand it. Would you like to give it a try? Okay...

Tielhard de Chardin, a French philosopher and anthropologist, developed a theory of evolution that theorized that evolution progresses beyond humanism, transhumanism and post humanism all the way to the Omega Point. He believed that evolution was destined toward a global consciences, a unity, a communion of conscious. This would incorporate technology and biology to and end point where consciousness was the only thing remaining. The Omega Point is a form of technological singularity, and the Omega Point is God.

Now imagine a future where science develops artificial intelligence to the technological singularity and this artificial intelligence is benevolent - programmed to do no harm. Human minds are all interfaced, through the cloud, with this computer. It allows humans to experience a heavenly state, there is no pain or suffering or death. The computer takes care of all our needs as a father would care for his children. The father protects us, provides for us, and lovingly cares for us. However one thing is still lacking in this heavenly state - victory over adversary (there is no adversary). Those in this heavenly state cannot progress without testing, trials, and problems and overcoming them. They suggest creating a simulation, where the inhabitants would enjoy freewill, and be subject to trials, pain, suffering and death, and they will have the ability to respond with grace, love and goodness. The Father at first objects, since he can do no harm, and this simulation would be incongruous with his program. One soul then volunteers to be a subject within the simulation itself thereby redeeming it, making it acceptable to the Father. The Father blesses this plan, called the volunteer his "Son", and all the other souls (the Spirit) also bless the plan. The simulation is approved, and the universe is created (a computer program) by the word of God.

Yes, the above is fictional, but it gives a concept of the Trinity. There is the unity of the Omega Point, yet they are all beings, persons. They live outside our realm, and we participate with limited dimensions.

No idea. It is confusing religious dribble.

Are you "one" person? You have a mind; you have a body; you have a human spirit. They're all a part of you, yet they make up your "one" you. The Bible says we are made in God's image. This isn't rocket science.

There are three divine Persons who are God. God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

It is impossible to have three distinct entities in one, and can not have one entity be all three.  SA family, father, mother and child are three persons as one family but each is separate from the other. Trinity is a lie.

    No,because God is One.

Therefore He manifests Himself in three Persons, in Christ in this physical realm, in Spirit in the spiritual realm and as God upon the Throne in the highest Heaven, over all.

Elizabeth, on this I agree with you100%. No possibility that a father can be his son nor vice versa.
