Yes, I live close to train tracks, and the noise seems comforting to me, but my neighbor says it keeps her awake!

I find the sound of trains and railroad crossing bells relaxing. I used to live right next to an airport, and I loved the sound of planes taking off too.

Buses are less exciting to listen to, but I do like the fumes. It makes me imagine being in a big city.

I can't stand them. Once I lived in a small town and the house I lived in was near the railroad tracks. Every house in that dump of a small town was close enough to the tracks and the railyard. I moved back to the city after 7 months because I got tired of being woken up in the middle of the night by the horns. I moved down there to save money and I did, but having to deal with the trains made it not worth it. I like my sleep to be undisturbed, that's more important to me than money.

I would prefer to hear a steam whistle from a distance.
