If children have the same mom and dad. let's say there are six children why don't they all look exactly the same besides genetics ??

    For each gene that influences appearance the parents can have up to 4 alleles (variants); although in most cases there are only two common alleles. Most physical characteristics are influenced by more than one gene.

    Each child gets essentially a random assortment of these alleles so each child can have a different appearance to their siblings.

    What a puerile question. You cannot say 'besides genetics'. It is because of genetics that we do not look like clones of our siblings.

    Quentin is on the right track here. You have 23 pairs of chromosomes, every pair consists of one chromosome from your mother and one from your father. Luck of the draw decides which chromosome of a pair is passed on to one child of yours.

    Two children who have the same parents typically share about 23 chromosomes with eachother. The other 23 enable us to tell them apart :-)
