Yes you do! I work for the census we don't pay you to answer the 12 little questions when you do it online. But you asked does a person get paid for filling out the census and the answer is yes you get paid with services the census counts people so that the government can disperse money to the police the fire department the schools the local programs that provide charity and emergency assistance and etcetera. When you answer the questions to the census you are a lot of money to yourself! You're telling the government here I am give me my share of the tax money that's available to my neighborhood.

A census worker does. A private person filling out their own form does not.

No. But you can face civil penalties of up to $5,000 for not answering the questionnaire. This is according to census law under U.S. Code section 224.
