Why are there no photos of King Louis XIV?

    The first photo was in the late 1820s, and it really didn't become a thing until the 1840s or 50s.

    Louis XIV lived from 1638-1715.

    Why were there no photos of Charlemagne, Napoleon Bonaparte or even Maximilien Robespierre? Photography existed long after their time.

    Photography didn't exist back in the Sun King's time. A French entity could ask for King Louis XIV's crypt to be reopened so that French scientists can do forensic analysis of King Louis XIV's face and make a CG image of the Sun King's face.

    Photography wouldn't exist for another 100+ years after he died.

    They will all printed on tissue paper and , well, it just dissolved.
