Do I understand this correctly?

Night starts around an hour after sunset correct?

    Night begins after dusk -- the period when the sun's no longer visible but it isn't dark yet.

    Night is when darkness comes. It differs in countries around the globe.

    On planets with atmospheres, yes.  (Even after the sun is below the horizon, it stays somewhat light because of atmospheres' tendency to scatter light.)  On the moon, which is mostly airless, it goes from day to night INSTANTLY.
