Why did Fox dislike Futurama?

Update:

Not just because of its politics - surely Fox aren't THAT silly. If Fox hadn't aired the show at rubbish times and failed to show interest in it, it needn't have been cancelled when it did. They cancelled Family Guy, Sliders and even Buffy at certain points. Are they idiots?

Update 2:

Actually, I slightly apologise because Buffy was cancelled by another network.

Ratings weren’t good when it was first airing on Fox, it wasn’t until the reruns started airing on cable that it built an audience and strong cult following, that’s why they partnered with Comedy Central to air new episodes years later while Fox was too focused on building up Bob’s burgers.

They wanted it to be The Simpsons in space, and they didn't get their wish.

Personally, the Fox executives were idiots to cancel that amazing show.
