Why is the profanity filter on Y!A inconsistent?

what do you mean "inconsistent"? It's just a simple algorhitm, blocking the same list of words as it did a decade ago

It isn't. The filter is the Yahoo Answers filter and Verizon gets to pick what is in the filter. They can not go by the user's wishes as that would be millions of lists, some with no words at all. Now, the list is not responsive since that takes dedicated staff and there are currently no obvious staff members addressing that filter. If you can do better, start a website, but don't keep asking about this.

It probably has not been updated since 2013 or 2014 because Yahoo Inc.'s executive management team was imploding and destroying itself wish political infighting prior to the stockholders revolting in July 2014 and Yahoo Inc. selling off all of its stock over 4 days in September and putting itself up for sale. "A_s_s" is a blacklisted word, but "asshole" is not. Verizon and Verizon Media are more worried about staying up with competition and rolling out their 5G network than they are with updating the Language /profanity filter while laying off experienced people world wide, which is exactly what Yahoo did starting in 2011 when it went through 4 acting CEOs in 2011 - 2012.Source(s): Previous YA questions..
