Why do professional rugby players wear tape around their head?
Wouldn’t the tape fall off? Aren’t they better off wearing a scrum cap?

Because they don't want their eyes from being wrecked!

Just to keep their ears down - some find the scrum cap too restricting

Protects the ears against cauliflower ear. If it's taped correctly it doesn't come off during a game.
Scrum caps are great but some people don't want to wear one; they prefer the tape job.

The tape wouldn't fall off- it's taped to itself. They tape their ears down so they don't rub their ears in a scrum- scrum caps are for wimps.
They also sometimes tape their wrists for stiff arming people.

They do not wear tape. But some of them wear a band to protect their ears.
