Do pending charges show up on background checks ?

    Were you arrested? Arrest records will, most likely, show up.

    It depends on how detailed a background check is done and that is based on how much the organization wanting the check is willing to pay. Most checks only check for outstanding warrants and convictions.

    Depends on the type of check that is done. They can be found quite easily if looked for.

    Yes, the can show up. In my state, all court records are entered into the circuit court website as soon as they are filed. The website is public record.

    It depends on the level of background check being conducted. The simplest form will typically run a “Social Security number trace“ to verify who you are, and then simply ping the county court records for existing felonies & misdemeanors. They often will also query the sex offender registry. In those simplest of cases, I don’t believe a pending charge will show up. On the other hand, they could very easily opt for a deeper dive background check, which will look into arrest records and pending charges, so it’s very possible.
