Do college professors tell you what to you for homework or do you have to figure what homework your supposed to do on your own?

Sorry if this if a dumb question but I was told that college professors don’t care. But hopefully not too much to even bother to tell us what to do for our homework.

That is up to each professor and how he/she runs their class. Some instructors will have listed all of the homework and assignments for the entire semester in the syllabus, whereas others may tell you what your homework is each class meeting.

I imagine most professors want their students to succeed and don't want to fail anyone. However the instructors have a responsibility of teaching and the students have the responsibility of learning the material.

They tell you the homework, but they don't care if you fail. Unlike in lesser education, there isn't some stigma that necessitates a teacher having all their students pass.

    Consequently, you fail you fail.
