I have a tiny splinter in my finger. How can I get it out?

    Tweezers, or a (clean) sewing needle.

    Most people use tweezers or carefully dig it out using a very sharp and freshly-sterilised needle (heat the tip red hot and allow to cool).

    If used carefully, the tip of the needle can be used to pierce the splinter allowing it to gradually be levered out. Or if it’s a very fine needle it can be pushed in to just below the end of the splinter and then be used to lever out the foreign object.

    go to urgent care, they'll take it out for you

      A tiny splinter is not an appropriate thing to attend urgent care for unless it affects the eye. Remove it yourself or make an appointment to see the nurse at your GP surgery.
