Is it pointless to contact the doctor's office about this reaction?

The doctor or nurse rubs a medicinal cream on your son's back. During the drive home and/or shortly after you guys arrive home, his back itches.

Would it be pointless to call their office on the phone to apprise them this?

Update:

We still should call them up, even if the itch lasts for only a half hour?

Update 2:

or less?

Update 3:

and even minor?

Update 4:

even if there were absolutely no rash, changes in color of skin, nor marks?

Update 5:

Just say hypothetically the cream is applied to lower your child's risk of skin cancer.

Its possible brief itching is a normal reaction to the creme, some topicals do that and its not an allergic reaction nor a bad reaction, its just how they operate. You can call and ask that. Its like some topicals sting at first, again not a bad/allergic reaction.

Any reaction should be reported and become part of your medical record.

No, it isn't pointless.  ANY reaction that you were not told to expect should be reported.  You didn't post WHY you son was given this medication and what you were told by the nurse or doctor about that medication.

It depends. Are there other reactions? Redness? Hives? What was the cream? What was it for? It is never a bad idea to ask questions.
