What does it mean to say that race is socially constructed? what are some ways to challenge racism?

    A social construct is something that exists not because of some objective reality, but rather is considered a result of human interaction, as posited by symbolic interactionists like George Mead.  I think that the notion is absurd, as racial recognition and racism are universal in all societies and under all circumstances.
