Pretty weird.  Life.  Amazing as it is mysterious.  But weird in any sense of the word.

Reproduction is the only thing that counts at the end of the day. All life forms exist because their members are able to reproduce. Except for humans, most species don't think about it, they just do it because it's in their genes.

Well death was never a part of God's design for the human race. He gave the perfect original couple, Adam and Eve, this command in Genesis 2:16, 17 "From every tree of the garden you may eat to satisfaction.  But as for the tree of the knowledge of good and bad, you must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will certainly die.”

Did God have the right to make such a restriction? Of course he did! He created them and asked them to obey one command! Was it a difficult one to obey? No.

When Adam and Eve sinned they became imperfect, which meant that they began to age, and eventually died. Because they were no longer perfect, they could not spread perfection to their offspring, therefore we are imperfect. So we are born, we do our best and then we die. But will it always be that way? Well we learned from Genesis that God's original intention was a beautiful paradise earth filled with perfect, righteous people. Because Adam and Eve sinned does that mean that purpose will never be realized? Of course not. In fact God gave us his only-begotten son, Jesus to make a way out for humans.

John 1:29 says "The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and he said: “See, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!"

Jesus was a ransom sacrifice. Adam, as a perfect man, sinned and took away our perfection and life. Jesus as a perfect man on earth, obeyed his Father even to death which acted as a ransom or a price paid to release us from captivity to sin and death. A perfect man lost us to sin, another perfect man was needed to release us from sin. (psalms 49:7,8; Romans 5:18)

So in the future what is going to happen?

Revelation 21:3,4 " With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them.  And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”

Death will really be gone! We look forward to a time when we can live life as it was meant to be lived!

Humans are born to do more than that. We have potential to leave an impact in the world in which we left.

SMH.  You didn't need to state you're from the UK, that much is obvious. But this is a question from an urban lefty who has no survival instinct left.

No more weird than any living thing requiring nutrients. If you understand that all life, no matter the type, is based on cells that require energy, and that no life produces its own energy but gets it from an outside source, it's not weird at all.

not weird.   Human was created to populate the world.   When you die, you have your children to keep your last name lasts.    When the world is overpopulated, someone will reduce the population by War, Epidemic and natural disaster.
