Which is more affordable to take a car for maintenance/minor body work — the dealership where it was purchased, or a repair shop?

Dealerships are usually more expensive and not necessarily any better quality.

Depends on what you need done. Maintenace probably a dealer they actually break even on it. They make money through problems you have. Thy charge cheap to get you in the door then they stick you with a bunch of bs. Same with repairshops you are better off with someone you know. Repairshops tend to be cheaper but sometimes do things wrong.

The ONLY time a dealer doesn't make MORE profit off the shop than most independent shops is for WARRANTY repairs.

Private repair shops are usually cheaper.
