Pork is cheaper than beef in Canada, also because the pork industry is HUGE, especially in Quebec with all of the associated economies of scale. Pigs can be slaughtered at a younger age than bees and can weigh 240-270 pounds while being less than a year old. The youngest animal is also more delicate.

Pork is generally a bit cheaper, depending on the region. 1) It costs less to raise slaughter hogs than steers.  2)  A sow's gestation period is about 1/2 as long as a cow, and while most cows only have 1 calf, a brood sow can have 10+ piglets.

Prices go up and down as supplies go up and down, I remember when pork was pretty pricey, much more than beef.

😄 The Brits owned majority of these countries where whites live on nonwhite lands. Including the Canada and the USA. Christianity teaches pork/pig is unclean and not edible. So naturally, even though many of these countries don't follow Christianity anymore, the same thoughts trickled down.

Pork is cheap because it's the least desired meat still.
