A pretzel is not a pretzel because of its shape. Either fried or baked donuts can be cut out to look like a pretzel. Pretzels can also be made in any shape. What makes them unique is being placed in an alkaline solution that makes them hard and crunchy on the outside when cooked.

A lot. Pretzels are a fairly stiff, unsweetened,* salty dough. If they're made properly they're scalded in a lye solution which gives them their dark colour and tough chewy skin, then they are baked in an oven. They usually have savoury toppings such as coarse salt or seeds.
Old school doughnuts are deep fried in hot oil. The dough is soft, rich with fat, and sweet. You could try to make a pretzel shaped doughnut but there's a very high chance it will unravel while deep frying.
* There are sweet exception s such as the New Year pretzel.

Donuts are fried, mostly. Pretzels are usually more like bagels. Which you can learn all about by using Mr. Google.
