Coal mines are going out of business because natural gas is cheaper and cleaner source of energy.

Because coal is dead....there is very little demand. Other fuels are cleaner and less expensive; less/no waste to deal with.

Bullshyt liberal regulation like safety regs which stop miners being killed on a daily basis? You're right - profits have got to come before people's lives!

Because the price of coal has bottomed out. Less demand for it in this millennium. No matter how much the supply is, if people aren't buying coal then prices will plummet.
