If Democrats actually cared about protecting and securing our elections, why are they rabidly opposed to voter ID?

If Canada has voter ID, surely the USA could and should too. Right?

IF WE HAD VOTER ID LAWS IN THIS COUNTRY IT WOULD MAKE VERY DIFFICULT FOR THE DEMOCRATS TO GET ILLEGALS AND DEAD PEOPLE TO THE POLLS TO VOTE

Voter ID issues are the least of worries when it comes to election security.  Voter ID does almost nothing for real security problems and takes focus away from much larger problems as well as making it difficult for some to vote.

Vlad Putin is against voter ID so the GOP cannot support it either.

We simply do not have an issue with in-person voter fraud. Let's spend lots of money to implement something completely unhelpful to the issues with gerrymandering, GOP secretaries of state playing shenanigans with voting computers and voter suppression. We'll be attacked again by Russia at tRump's request since apparently that's legal now...Mueller says it's already happening...or just never stopped after 2016 since tRump killed of the investigation into Russia's attack.

Your logic is confused. As Canada is a horrible socialist communist place according to cons, if they have voter ID then USA should never have it.

Here's why some are against it. They see it as a potential tool for conservative racists to prevent certain groups of citizens from voting.

The claim is the by making it difficult to get the ID, those certain classes of people would be unable to fulfill the requirements to get an ID. And thus they'd be barred from voting.

If you are Canadian, perhaps you can answer this. Do your Inuits have available access to those IDs so that they can cast their votes in Canada?

Could you explain why republicans voted against election security first?

    • Commenter avatarLog in to reply to the answers
  • They've taken it into their heads that we are trying to prevent minorities from voting, and that since they pander to minorities via identity politics, they also think all minorities vote Democrat.

They are mistaken on both counts.

How does voter ID prevent the ballot fraud that happens after the voting?
