Why are the Chinese so superstitious?

People are easily brainwashed, especially if it starts in childhood where the child can't really think for itself. I don't like superstitions. My mother had a few I remember from childhood that are still with me all these decades later, like it's bad luck to put shoes on a table.

They are no more superstitious than any other society. Each society and culture has its own superstitions which seem strange or bizarre to outsiders.

When religion is lacking in your life you can easily turn to superstition and and other beliefs to compensate for the lack of understanding of life and God.
In my opinion.
