Can an old vcr be used w/Samsung 1080hdmi tv?

    see digital/analog converters at best buy they cost 30 bucks thereabouts

    No ! old VCR video out is in analogy type signal where as hdmi input only accept digital signal.

    Input it in RCA socket if this TV has them shall work.

    Yes, if connected either through the TV's RF input 

    or through an HDMI input with the aid of an "AV2HDMI" converter. 

         

    Watch the labelling carefully --- 

    there are also "HDMI2AV" converters 

    that do the opposite of what you need.

    You should be able to assuming your TV and VCR have the same video connections. Most TVs still have a coaxial input, so you would plug in a coaxial cable from the VCR's out to the TV's coax input. You would then change the TV's channel to 3/4. If both have composite cables, you may want to use that instead of the coax.
