A good man will value his family, friends, and country. He will defend those weaker than himself, and work hard to provide for his family. A good man uses his strengths to serve others, and he will love, protect and respect his family.

Kind, thoughtful to others, clean and hard working.

Also if he is kind to his relatives that tells you he is a good man.

A good man exercises good character.  Character is choice and to exercise good character takes effort.  Good character is defined by honesty, responsibility, integrity, self-control, and a willingness to develop individual knowledge, skills, and abilities that can are beneficial to society.  Generosity is a good trait, but not the foundation of good character.

There are a multitude of variables that make up a good man, and there are exceptions to just about everything.

One might consider a man who does not harm others to be a good man, while at the same time considering a soldier whose job is to harm others to be good.

A man who follows a strict moral code may be a good man, but under that definition, Darth Vader could be considered a good man.

A man who is loyal and true might be considered a good man, but many consider John Kennedy to be a good man despite being a womanizer who likely cheated on his wife multiple times.

I think a good man is one who strives to be true to himself and others, tries to minimize the risk of harm to others, takes ownership of his mistakes, works hard and is both capable and passionate, and stands up for what is right.  They are not flawless, but when they find their flaws, they try to overcome them.

This question does not have a straightforward answer.,

In some societies, if one does not have vices, no smoking, no drinking, no drugs, is working, helps other people, the person is a good man.

In religion, it is not so clear cut.

Bible says only God is good, all have fallen short of God's glory. only Jesus Christ can save humans from their sins.

other religions advises the followers to perform many good deeds.

You can write a 3000 word essay and you have not exhausted the ideas.

    It is a complicated question.

Good question. This may answer your question...

The “righteous” man is law abiding. He meets a criterion, fulfills a quota, but may do little beyond that. Thus he wins respect but not necessarily hearts. Few would be moved to die for him. However, the “good” man does more than fulfill obligations or avoid wrongdoing. His goodness motivates him to exert himself for others, to do things for them. Those who exert themselves in doing good things for others prove to be real neighbors. Jesus’ parable about the neighborly Samaritan illustrates this point. “Moved with pity,” the Samaritan dressed the wounds of a beaten robbery victim, a Jew. Then this doer of good “mounted him upon his own beast and brought him to an inn and took care of him.” (Luke 10:29-37) Is it any wonder, then, that some have called this illustration the parable of the good Samaritan?—Compare Matthew 12:35; 20:10-15; Luke 6:9, 33-36.Goodness is not passive but is dynamically active. Recipients of the “good” person’s kindness, generosity, and self-sacrifice might even be moved to die for him! So it is with good reason that the psalmist prayed: “Teach me goodness.” (Psalm 119:66)

By following general principles because you want to rather than being forced to follow specific rules out of fear of punishment.  That's a brief summary of what ethics is.
