If you want to kill snakes, it would be better to use something with a shotgun shell, like a Taurus Judge.

One of the major threats to the infamously venomous snakes native to Africa is the secretary bird, which stomps them to death with its tough clawed feet. This bird has a much higher success rate than you would with a pistol (unless you were an extremely good shot) because he does not have to aim an external weapon but instead uses his weaponized appendages to flatten the snakes. I recommend a tough LL Bean boot and maybe some rubber waders or a similar protective gear and to get stomping

It is not necessary and may get you in trouble because there are laws against firing shots outside your residence in many cities and states. If you see a rattlensnake, you are safe just a few feet from it because they are slow movers and they cannot strike more than 1/2 of their body length. Most people are bitten because they accidentally step on one or because they put their hands where a snake may be present, for example, when they are climbing rocks on a hillside. Just watch where you put your hands and feet and you are safe. If you have already been bitten, a firearm would not save your life. You need to stay calm, move as little as possible and get to a hospital as soon as possible. Killing the snake won't save your life in such situations. Avoiding bites will save you. Lastly, mass shootings are so frequent nowadays that some people may shoot you when they see you holding a gun in public, thinking you may be a mass shooter.

Maybe you could use the money to buy some balls. So you’re not such a coward
