why do people in their 30s and 40s still get spoken to like children by people twice their age?

If people in their 30s and 40s are grown *** people, then why do they still get spoken to like children???

You always think of yourself as being grown up. When you're older, you look back at how you were at that person's age and realise you probably weren't.

Most of them don't. You must live in a strange place.

I find it's only older family members that do that because it seems a short time ago I was a wee boy but I'm 35. I usually find older people who didn't see me grow up don't do that.

Because old people are in pretty good health these days.
