Wisdom and intelligence are two different things. Someone can be very intelligent but not have a lot of wisdom. Someone can have a low IQ but have a lot of wisdom. Wisdom essentially means “good judgement”, it is one of the 7 gifts of the Holy Spirit. For example believing in God is very wise. Stephen Hawking was very intelligent but not wise

By a hairsbreadth. But you'll find that the average atheist is also richer, more powerful, prettier, and more popular than the average Christian. All of these things can lead to pride, and pride is what leads to atheism. There is certainly no logic nor evidence to shore it up.

It depends on your definition of intelligence.  I mean, how smart is it to go off into eternity not knowing where you're going?

No. There is no difference in the range of intelligence between the two groups.

On average, religious FUNDAMENTALISTS have lower levels of intelligence than those who are more flexible on religious issues.

Of course! That's what makes them an atheist.

  • This is not a very intelligent question, as an intelligent person would not make such assumption

Does it matter much? I never end up dealing with demographics, just individuals. And it's not going to be a drastic difference from the peak of one bell curve to the other.

Source(s): And the, "We're smarter than them" thing has always made me squeamish anyway.
