How is it possible to see yourself in 3rd person? ?

Every time I get put under laughing gas I literally float from my body and watch the procedure as if it's right in front of me. How is this even possible ?

    A literal out-of-body experience.

If it only happens at the dentist, you might want to reconsider the effects laughing gas has on you. We all have what is called an imagination, and that is what is operating in your case.  Put your imagination to good use, and find an outlet for this skill.

Anyway, when you look in a mirror you see yourself in 3rd person.  Reversed left/right, but you don't notice that.
